Nick Burgoyne - Villagers
Balinese people love to be photographed. Engage them in conversation and 90% of them will
agree to be photographed when asked. I love the sweetness and wisdom in their faces and how their
lives are told by the lines and patina.
For foreign visitors, from 'modern' countries which have mostly lost their 'everyday communities', it
is charming to experience a culture which is lived outside, rather than within the walls. I
particularly enjoy photographing elders and children and, as you can see from these photos,
they all find me very amusing too!
