Here, Pak Gusti Ngurah Ketut Putriyasa is working with his buffalo ploughing a very muddy furrow for the owner of the field. Ploughing the mud pushes last year’s rice stalks to the bottom to rot and provide nutrients for this year’s crop. He is a roving plough man who rents out the services of himself and his buffalo to farmers whose rice paddies need to be tilled.
