With Your Help - We Can Make A Difference !

Sanglah Hospital, in central Denpasar, is woefully under resourced. The staff are good and caring people and they perform their work in a setting which reminds me of the mid 20th Century. When it is available the equipment is, in the main, ancient and dilapidated.

Right Now You Can Make a Difference.

We need donations of money and medical equipment. It doesn't have to be new equipment but it must be refurbished,  calibrated to international standards and certified.

Details will appear here soon of how to do this. Obviously, things are crazy here right now.

The main priority here right now, is to keep alive as many of the Indonesian victims as possible.

Dr. Vij Performs Emergency 'Field Surgery'

An English Girl Receives Care

I arrived at Sanglah Hospital at about 8:30 am on Sunday morning.  I took a few hundred painkillers which I'd bought from a local pharmacy and gave them to the emergency reception.

After comforting some of the victims I met Dr. Pria. She was on holiday with her husband Dr. Vij from their home in Australia. Initially I was roped in as a translator but pretty quickly I was assisting with emergency burn surgery treatments. By a miraculous turn of events, Vij is a plastic surgeon, specialising in burns!  I worked all day with Dr. Vij and Dr. Pria - for me they were the greatest heroes of the day.

A true expression of Man's innate humanity in the face of our inhumanity...
