A New Leg for Achmad

Achmad needs a new leg
and we're hoping to get him one!

We visited the Yakkum Organisation on
May 8th with Achmad to discuss acquiring
his new prosthetic leg.

The Yakkum Bali Rehabilitation Project
is funded entirely by private donations.

They are dedicated to helping the
disabled come to terms with their
disabilities & encourage them to
become part of an active community.

It is run by Indonesians who
themselves have disabilities
(amputees, as well as people
with disabled limbs, burns
& spinal injuries) and who
have been helped by Yakkum.

Even after having two
operations to amputate
and prepare his stump
for a prosthetic, Achmad
still has residual pain.

The cause of this has to be investigated before he can
have an artificial leg made.

We are now trying to get an appointment with
Dr Siki Kawiyana an orthopedic surgeon to
investigate the problem with Achmad's leg.

We hope to rectify the problem in time
(maybe a further amputation is
needed), then return to Yakkum to
get the artificial leg, Achmad
so desperately wants.
